Promotion System

To encourage outstanding faculty members to continue advancing their academic and teaching excellence, NCUT has established a comprehensive promotion and incentive system. Through a flexible salary scheme and diversified reward mechanisms, the university aims to attract and retain distinguished scholars who demonstrate excellence in research, teaching, and interdisciplinary development.

The promotion and incentive policies are implemented in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s Flexible Salary Program for Recruiting and Retaining Outstanding Faculty in Higher Education Institutions, along with relevant university regulations. These policies are designed to encourage faculty members to continuously improve their performance in academic research, teaching innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

1. Flexible Salary Program under the Higher Education Sprout Project

To encourage faculty members to pursue excellence in both teaching and research, NCUT allocates 5% of the annual budget from the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Sprout Project to support a flexible salary program for outstanding faculty members.

The flexible salary program includes incentives and awards such as:

  • Distinguished Teaching Awards
  • Outstanding Student Counseling and Service Awards
  • Chair Professor
  • Distinguished Professor
  • Lifetime Distinguished Professor
  • Visiting Professor
  • Research Excellence Awards (e.g., contributions to research projects and academic journal publications)

Through this system, NCUT promotes excellence in teaching, research, and academic service while attracting and retaining distinguished scholars from both domestic and international academic communities.

2. Research Incentives Supported by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC)

NCUT also aligns with research funding programs from the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and has established institutional guidelines to reward outstanding research performance.

These incentives encourage faculty members to demonstrate excellence in areas such as:

  • Academic research achievements
  • Industry–academia collaborative research
  • Interdisciplinary research development

Through these research incentives, the university strengthens its ability to recruit and retain talented faculty members and researchers, thereby enhancing its research capacity and innovation capabilities.

3. Promoting Interdisciplinary Research and Academic Development

Through its promotion system and research incentive mechanisms, NCUT encourages faculty members to actively participate in interdisciplinary research initiatives and collaborative projects beyond their primary academic fields.

By integrating expertise from different disciplines and leveraging diverse research resources, faculty members are able to develop innovative research topics, increase the impact of their academic outputs, and contribute to technological innovation and industry collaboration.

NCUT will continue to refine its promotion and incentive system to support faculty development in teaching, research, and industry collaboration, thereby fostering a dynamic academic environment and strengthening the university’s global competitiveness.
